Fall For Callaway

As the heat of summer fades into the brisk air of autumn, it’s time to start planning your fall adventures. Find your way through a corn maze, take a scenic drive to find vivid fall colors, listen to live bluegrass music or dig into some local cuisine. Get ready to fall for Callaway County.

 

Starting with the first World’s Fair in Mokane in 1950, mutton has been a Callaway County specialty. It’s distinctive flavor and tangy sauce brings folks from miles around to various events to partake in a sandwich or two, or even take home a pound for later.  Follow the Callaway County Mutton Trail from the Mokane World’s Fair, September 3-5, to the Tebbetts Picnic and Muttonfest, September 17-19, to the Calwood BBQ Mutton Dinner  on October 2 to get your fill for the season.

 

If you love camping and Volkswagens, then save the date for Volks in the Valley on September 10-12 at Serenity Valley Winery. Enjoy the beautiful venue located in Millersburg with entertainment, activities, and tasty wine.

 

Enjoy live music and delicious barbecue at the Fulton State Hospital Foundation’s 15th annual  Bluegrass and BBQ on Sunday, September 12 at 54 Country in Fulton.

 

Get your shop on during Fulton’s Brick District Sidewalk Sales September 17-18. Find great deals on home décor, jewelry, office supplies, and apparel!

 

Make plans now to come out to the Shryock’s Corn Maze open weekends September 18-October 21. Find your way through the life-size corn maze, enjoy group hayrides, roaring campfires, pumpkins and the famous gumball coaster!

 

Enjoy the fall colors on the scenic route to Hatton. Find handmade home goods, apparel and accessories at the Hatton Craft Fair on Saturday, October 2. Peruse more than 150 booths featuring one-of-a-kind merchandise and enjoy food and drink from local vendors.

 

The Rock Garden Antique Barn Fall Festival on Saturday, October 16 offers a variety of vendors as well as face-painting, crafts and hayrides. Admission is free!

 

Experience the 1550 A.D. village of Carlingford, Ireland during the Central Missouri Renaissance Festival October 23-24. Located in Kingdom City, the festival embraces the culture and times of the Renaissance through games, live entertainment, and a thriving marketplace of artisans. The land is host to multiple stages as well as a grass arena for live steel and blunted weapon fighting.

 

Kick off the holiday season with the Brick District’s Holiday Open House on Friday, November 6. Fulton’s downtown will be decorated and filled with merriment as merchants offer specials and refreshments. Activities include wagon rides, Santa & Mrs. Claus, a holiday window contest, and gift certificate giveaways.
