A Fun Fall Is on Display in Callaway County

Autumn is the perfect time to experience family fun in Missouri—especially in Callaway County! Whether you're exploring the great outdoors in the crisp fall air, enjoying local festivals, or simply relaxing around town, Callaway County has plenty to offer.

Callaway Festivals

Through Nov. 4, crowds of visitors make a trip to Shryock's Callaway Farms an annual family outing – exploring the Corn Maze, Fun Barn, Jumping Pillow, barnyard activities and the indoor gumball machine. This year’s Corn Maze, honoring Mizzou Tigers Football, closes Nov. 3. Open Friday through Sunday. See Activities on the Farm for more information.

On Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 4-26,7 p.m.-11 p.m.: Climb aboard Phantom Field Haunted Hayride, presented by Callaway Care. Ride on hay bales on a trailer through a field of horror and fright. From screaming ghosts to maniacal clowns, you're going to be subjected to freaks and ghouls of all kinds! Bringing very small children is not recommended.

Oct. 19-20, 10 a.m.-6 p.m,: Wander back to 1550 to the sleepy Irish village of Carlingford at the Central Missouri Renaissance Festival in Kingdom City. The faire features more than seven stages, more than 50 artisans, dozens of characters, multiple living encampments and so much more.

Oct. 4, 6 p.m.-9 p.m. Join us for First Fridays at the Woods. Enjoy live music, food, drinks, yard games, and vendors at William Woods University. Bring a chair or blanket. Admission is free!

Oct. 5: Calwood Mutton Feast is the final Callaway Mutton Trail event of the year. Head over to Calwood Community Center in Fulton noon-7 p.m., but if you want to be sure you’ll get to eat, you may want to arrive early – they often sell out.

Oct. 5,  8  a.m-4 p.m.: The 52nd Hatton Craft Day features 180 booths showcasing handmade items in three buildings and along the trails. Seven food booths will satisfy your hunger needs! 

Oct. 17, 4 p.m.-7 p.m. Third Thursday in the District features a shopping event themed “Cider & Sweaters.”

Oct. 19, 7 p.m.: Brick District Playhouse is proud to present Murphy Ford with special guest Chloe Hoecker. This American country singer-songwriter band has performed with Trace Adkins, Tracy Lawrence, Eli Young, Big and Rich, and many more. Tickets available now.

Oct. 31, 4 p.m.-6 p.m.: Don’t miss  Trick or Treat on the Bricks in the Brick District in Fulton. Kids get their Brick District goodie bag at the Court House on 5th Street and follow the monster footprints up Nichols Street and down Court Street.

Nov. 8: Brick District Holiday Open House, 4 p.m.-7 p.m. Brick District businesses will reveal their holiday windows at 4 p.m. for the window decorating contest. Peruse downtown Fulton as you enjoy live holiday music, carriage rides, refreshments, kids’ crafts and a visit with Santa and Ms. Claus!

Fulton’s Music Scene

Oct 2 and Nov. 6, 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. Enjoy live music by Planet Jazz at Brooklyn Pizza . Relax over an authentic Brooklyn-style pizza at a red checkered table, accompanied by live music in Fulton’s downtown Brick District.

Oct. 5, 12, 19, and 28: Revel in woodfired pizza, lakeside and tent seating, and fabulous sunsets during Serenity Valley Winery’s Saturday music Series. Music starts at 6 p.m. with different performers each week Check their Facebook page for the full line up and exact times.

Oct. 5, 19, 26 and Nov. 2: Stop by 54 Country in Kingdom City for their Saturday Night Dance, offering live music by the 54 Country Band. Doors open 7:30 p.m. Dancing lessons are frequently offered around 8:15 p.m. with the band starting at 9 p.m.

With so many exciting activities, a fun fall is always on display in Callaway County, making every moment unforgettable!
